Algae
Algae is the black stains that are usually easier to see on lighter shingles and they appear in darker shaded sides, usually the north facing sides. The only way to get rid of these is by using a very low pressure with a soft touch.
Moss on the other hand could be removed in a number of ways. We asses which way would benefit the roof upon our initial inspection. We have your best interest and just want you to get the most life out of your shingles as possible. We love to rely on the treatment plan and get you on a once a year organic treatment application so the the moss does not even have a chance to form in the first place. This will get you the longest life, because not only does it minimize moss, but it also keeps the roof from being worked – which can also speed up the decay process. We want to minimize the amount of cleanings via pressure as much as we can.
